on Thursday night. We train mostly at Station 1 (2380 Hwy 158). Stop by and sit in on a training, meet the members and see if it is a "good fit" for you.
Volunteer firefighting is a very rewarding and valuable way to serve our community. It takes dedication and many hours of training to become a firefighter. If you're willing to put in the time and effort, we would like to welcome you.

If you are accepted as trainee to the June Lake Fire Department, you will be required to complete a 52-week training program for one (1) night each week (Thursdays). This program will provide you with the basic skills necessary to perform the duties of firefighter as a team member of the Department. Following successful completion of the trainee program you will be required to complete a six month probationary period during which you will be evaluated by the officers of the Department regarding your skills, ability to carry out assigned duties, work with others, follow instructions, participation and attendance. During your probationary period you may be dismissed at any time. You will be covered by workers compensation insurance during training.
You need to be a resident of June Lake for at least 6 months. Firefighting is a physical job, you will need to be good physical shape. You will be required to attend trainings on Thursday nights and meet the minimum training to acquire your badge and become a member of the Dept. The Volunteers host an annual fund raiser every year on the second Saturday in August, you will be required to work and set up for this event.
